Jack is just 4 months old and is hilarious! He has so many expressions and isn’t shy about sharing them! Here are a few of them. The one with the eyebrow quirked up at me as if to say “Yeah-rrrrightttttttttt”.. love it!

This family was so nice. They were all so cooperative! The lighting that day was great! I love the little girls hair. So light and wispy! It just blew so sweetly in the breeze…

When Jen told me she was having her wedding the first weekend of April and wanted beach pictures, well… I wasn’t sure what was going to happen that day!
It was the warmest and most beautiful day of the year so far! Totally perfect! A little wind for excitement and warm sunshine! They had their reception at Laketown Center in Saugatuck, MI. This is the second time I have been there and I adore all the windows! The lighting and mood is wonderful! If you are getting married check this location out! When the sun starts to set the whole place has a beautiful glow!
I’ve known Jennifer for a while now. She is a member of the ASL group in our congregation and is such a sweetie! I’m so glad Chet will be moving here so we will be gaining a great guy and not losing Jen!
Congratulations go out to you both! I hope you had a fantastic time soaking up rays during your honeymoon!
I just love this family. Cute as can be. Her mom has the most amazing curly red hair and green eyes. Claire definitely inherited her mom’s eyes!
This sweet little girl does everything early! Her mom brought her in when she was 5 or 6 weeks old, and I (truly) thought she was 3 months old and photographed her in the 3 month poses- head held high etc… then in the middle of the session while talking with mom I realized she was still just 5 or 6 weeks old! Now she’s 9 months old and standing on her own.. taking steps! So cute and independent!
See her then- and now!

Here is Matthew! He is just adorable! 5 years old. He loves jet planes and Little Einsteins! Also had a blast with bubbles and a lollipop here too! Here’s the first image I looked at after the session. Of course this adorable expression I was able to capture by saying “Don’t you DARE smile!” Typical of a redhead to always do the opposite! Once I got that trick, the whole session was loads of fun!
His little sister has been visiting me for a little over a year but this was the first time I got to photograph big brother!

Well- as I look out my window and see yet more snow falling (oh joy) I am working on this wedding I photographed a couple weeks ago. Alex and Sara lucked out and their winter wedding was on one of the most perfect winter Saturdays I have seen this year. The snow was fresh, the temperature was 30/31 and the sun was shining! Can’t beat that!
Sara was literally a snow princess in their ‘Winter Romance’ themed wedding and everything was beautiful and very romantic! Check out a couple images from this gorgeous day!

Wow! Last Thursday was one of the most harrowing days I have experienced! I took the day off after my morning appointment rescheduled. I had promised my little boy (Ian- 3 years old!) I would take him sledding at the first opportunity. The weather was finally great for outdoor play and lots of snow for sledding. I got us all packed up and ran a couple errands, then as we were on our way- got our car stuck. Fun. It took an hour to get it out but we managed to get it out before the plow truck came. Then we made our way to Pinery Park in Wyoming. We made it all the way up the hill and went down on our sled- about halfway down our sled broke in several pieces!

My poor little guy was very unhappy about that! All that work and half a trip downhill was all that resulted. So of course I couldn’t STAND the disappointment on his face and we went to the nearest sports store and bought him a brand new sled. We had fun for a good hour or more before we tired out.
I had a package that was at the Post Office so I decided we’d stop at the Post Office and pick it up on the way home… We stood in line for several minutes and Ian was busy busy looking at all the brochures and papers in the counters. He was about 3 feet from me and suddenly slipped on the floor and took a complete header smack on the floor on his face. My heart froze as I ran to him and picked him up and blood was gushing from his forehead. I grabbed him and ran out the post office in a panic. Some of the PO folks brought my package out to me and suggested I take him to Urgent Care on the Beltline since it was closer. I rushed him into Urgent Care and they cleaned him up a bit for me and the little guy wound up getting stitches.
He was so good through it. I was a mess though. LOL. Even now my blood pressure rises when I think about it!
I went home and after getting him dinner (his favorite - hotdogs) and letting him open a brand new pack of playdoh- he went to sleep and I took a much needed bath with a VERY large glass of wine. LOL.
I’m looking for a part-time/full-time apprentice hopefully to start no later than June! If you know of anyone who really wants to become a photographer and wants the practical application/ knowledge this is a great opportunity. Instead of putting mucha dinero (lotsa money!) and several years into college, spend a year with me as an apprentice and either be able to go out on your own or continue working with me as an employee! Great opportunity for a graduating high school student or part-time college student or even a college graduate that wants some real-life experience! This is an non-paid apprenticeship with approximately 20-25 hours per week. Call for an interview! No real experience needed. Just a strong desire to work in the photographic community and basic computer skills. You will learn photography, management, photoshop, customer service and sales.
Wow. OK. So here we are in January and my last post was in June. Obviously not a great track record on that. One of my goals this year is to do much better in keeping in touch with my clients. The blog will be a part of that.
This year will be bringing a ton of new things to Details, ETC! We will be introducing some spectacular Limited Edition Portrait Sessions!
We’ll be featuring LE’s (Limited Editions) such as Construction Kids, Romantic Chic, Cowboy Fun, Spring/ Summer Fairies, Springtime, and Making Faces. Best of All, these LE’s will be for kids 2-8 and with great pricing! Don’t miss out! Samples and more details coming soon!
Weddings, Engagements and More! Wow! Now is the time of year when the phone is really ringing for wedding bookings! It seems everyone gets engaged around the holidays and the wedding planning is in full force! If you are engaged now is the time to call to book your free consultation and reserve your wedding day!
I’m really excited about the changes in store for 2008!

AJ and Amy’s wedding was truly gorgeous! I know Amy is dying to see her images- I’m still chugging through them! So many! Here are a few I have finished that will whet her appetite.
It was my first visit to the Mayflower Church and what a beautiful location! The atrium is full of this wonderful light! It was great since we could have greenery even if it hadn’t been a beautiful day. After the ceremony the bridal party and I paid a visit to the grounds around the Ford Musuem. We had some fun images there and then the real party started!
The Peninsular Club was truly a lovely venue for a reception and the food and music were wonderful! Not to mention the cake! You know I love great wedding cake!
AJ and Amy are blessed with loads of wonderful friends and family! Amy’s sister is also getting married this summer! I’m looking forward to checking out her wedding photos too as an old buddy of mine from college has the honor of working with her!
Amy’s wedding dress was truly to die for! Not any girl could pull off a dress like that! She is such and incredibly beautiful bride. Amy grew up here in Grand Rapids but her family currently lives in Chicago. AJ lives out of state as well so there was a lot of travel involved with most of the guests! They had both venues full of folks who came to support them and show their love. There was even a guest who flew in from Europe! Talk about friends and family that love you!
Enjoy the preview!
